Division of Aquatic Product Quality and Safety is designated to meet the demands of national strategy and international frontier researches on quality and safety of aquatic products. The laboratory mainly focuses on the fundamental research on quality and safety of aquatic products, including testing method and inspection technology, formation mechanism and process control technology, as well as the risk assessment and standards drafting. In the recent years, the laboratory has obtained many achievements and played an important role on fundamental research, risk assessment, emergency response ability, technique support for fishery industry and standardization, etc.

Many other national key laboratories or national agencies, such as Key Laboratory of Testing and Evaluation for Aquatic Product Safety and Quality, Ministry of Agriculture, Laboratory of Quality and Safety Risk Assessment for Aquatic Product (Qingdao), Ministry of Agriculture as well as the Secretariat of Aquatic Product Processing Technical Sub-committee of National Aquatic Standardization Technical Committee and the Secretariat of Aquatic Product Processing Technical Sub-committee of National Food Industry Standardization Technical Committee, are located in the laboratory.
